This architecture/design agency’s site like “just how you do web design these days“. But upon a further look, it is really well executed much deeper than normally. Great use of layout and typography, fully responsive of course. Brilliant example of web design 2013.
If you have an iOS device, you need to check out Simogo’s latest adventure game Device 6. The story is told mainly with text, with its wonderful typography laid out to reflect the narrative and the protagonist’s movement. You navigate by touchscreen scrolling in multiple directions and tapping buttons. The device orientation flips occasionally as well. Excellent sound design, music and small photographic imagery sprinkled throughout the text supports the storyline. I have not played enough to see if the puzzles hold up. But the visual and audio style forms a very cohesive whole with a brilliant 50’s vibe to it. It reminds a lot of Saul Bass’ work and classic text books. That aside, the most important thing is that it tells a fascinating surreal story. It feels like a paper book come to life. The game is unlike anything I’ve seen before and shows phantastic new ways of interacting with text. Cannot wait to play it more.
Time tilings, four site-specific video projections on the floor of public space, by Pablo Valbuena. Excellent blend of geometric animations and architecture. Put on the “artists to watch” list.
Banksy, our street art darling from the UK is currently working in New York city. If you haven’t already, you can get an overview at his website: Better Out Than In. Witty and fun.
There are few things that make me more happy than when talented folks make animated versions of my Geometry Daily graphics, like this: Video by davidurbinati
Watching SandmÄnnchen - This is my first try with Cameo, a brand new video production app for iOS. Shooting videos mobile is fast, intuitive and simple. It keeps all the technical complexities away from the user, still the results are beautiful and professional. That’s achieved through style presets, automatic titles and a tasteful soundtrack library. Also, all the heavy data is pushed to the cloud immediately. You can even shoot and edit together with friends simultaneously. Check it out, it’s free. http://cameo.tv/c/IxSkBAcj
